FAQ

WHAT TYPE OF VACUUM SHOULD I USE AND HOW OFTEN DO YOU RECOMMEND VACUUMING? The Carpet and Rug Institute has a list of recommended vacuum cleaners.  These vacuums have been independently tested and have demonstrated superior performance. Vacuums that effectively remove soil while keeping the carpet looking good will help carpet last longer.

IF IS USE A VACUUM THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE CRI SEAL OF APPROVAL WILL MY CARPET WARRANTY BE VOIDED?  While the use of a non-approved vacuum will not void your warranty, using approved vacuum cleaners, like an Oreck XL, will extend the life of your carpet and improve the indoor air quality in your home.

CAN YOUR CARPET BE INSTALLED WITHOUT PAD?  Carpet pad is required in order to qualify for our warranties. We recommend padding to enhance the softness of your carpet and to increase the life of your carpet by acting as a shock absorber when someone walks on the carpet.

WHAT TYPE OF PADDING DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR YOUR CARPET?  Cut pile carpets, we recommend a pad with a thickness of 7/16 of an inch and a density of 6-8 pounds per cubic feet.  For loop pile, carpets we recommend a pad with a thickness of 3/8” and a density of 6-8 pounds per cubic feet.

SOFT TOUCH CARPETS ARE SOFT, BUT DO THEY PERFORM AS WELL AS OTHER FIBERS?  All of our carpets have been through extensive testing.  Our carpets have been constructed to meet performance standards and are backed by a full range of warranties.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?  Because of our operational efficiencies and the way we make our solution dyed fibers, we use considerably less energy to make our carpets, 50% less oil than piece dyed nylon carpets.  We also avoid using over 500 million gallons of water a year because we don’t use water to dye our carpets.  The dye is inserted into molten polymer during the fiber manufacturing process. Our goal is to have Blue Skies in the future so the environment is most important to us.

WILL SEAMS BE VISIBLE IN MY ROOMS? Yes, however when installed by professional carpet installers, most of our carpets can be installed with seams that will be virtually unnoticed. Some seams may be slightly visible based on the color and style selected.  In general terms, lower pile height carpets will tend to show more seams.

WHAT IS THE NEW CARPET SMELL AND HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?  Carpets, like many products in the home, can give off a very slight odor when first installed.  This odor is a result of the latex backing system that holds the carpet tufts to the backing. It normally dissipates within a few days.  A persistent “Urban Legend” is that this odor is formaldehyde.  That is not true.  No formaldehyde has been used in the manufacturing of carpet since 1975.  The Carpet and Rug Institute has a program to test and ensure that carpets pass a series of stringent tests called the Green Label Plus Program.  All of our carpets we manufacture pass the requirements of this program.

CAN I BUY DIRECTLY FROM YOU?  (WE ACTUALLY GET THIS A LOT) BlueSky Carpets sells through top flooring retailers. Because our retailers provide professional installation, we do not offer direct sales to consumers. We do not provide a list of retailers to prevent competition between our retailers. All of our retailers are monitored to ensure the highest quality standards for installation that you would expect from BlueSky Carpets.

HOW DO I BECOME A BLUESKY DEALER?  Contact us at the next local market event or our representative may call on your showroom. We do not accept new clients at other times.

HOW DO I FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM?  If you are unhappy with your carpet and believe you have a warranty claim, you must contact your BlueSky retailer to file a claim. An independent inspector may need to inspect the carpet. You will need to provide a proof of purchase, a full description of your claim and receipt(s) for recommended professional cleaning by hot water extraction on a yearly basis.

DOES MY WARRANTY TRANSFER FROM ONE HOMEOWNER TO THE NEXT?  Our warranties are offered for the various warranty periods, 10 years, 25 years, or lifetime, as long as you own the carpet.  They are not transferable.
